The Relay for Life |

Hello Dance Friends, The Relay For Life fund-raising event for the American Cancer Society took place on Friday night May 2nd. It was a good night – nice weather and lots of events going on throughout the night. We were able to square dance as part of the entertainment during the evening. Thanks for Joe Kelly for coming out to call, and a special thanks to the square dancers who came out to walk and to dance. Several dancers spent several hours at the track and I really appreciate it. We had a very good showing of Survivors from our square dance community and it was really exciting and encouraging to see the Survivors come out and to honor them with their special lap and also the luminary ceremony at dark. There were a total of 60 survivors at the walk who provided inspiration to us all. This year’s event had a total of 29 teams, bringing almost 300 participants who raised just under $50,000 through Relay For Life. |
I’m proud to announce that our CASDA Team raised $1,108.00!!! This is the most we have ever been able to donate. A big “Thank You” to all who so generously donated and to those who participated. Remember, the Relay for Life is an ongoing project. The intent is to begin now to raise money for next year’s event. Little fund-raising things throughout the year can add up to a lot at the end of the fund-raising year. So please begin now within your individual Clubs to come up with some fund-raising ideas to go on throughout the year in preparation for next year’s walk.
